Why I Bought a Tablet….for My Kitchen
Alright, don’t laugh, but I bought a tablet just for my kitchen… well, at least that’s how it started. Let me explain.
I LOVE baking. Love it. Thrive on it. Unwind with it. Love it.
What I don’t love is running back and forth between my desktop computer and the kitchen when I’m following a new recipe, or having to print out every single recipe. (I know, I know—first world problems!)
Then I got an annual subscription to Craftsy (for under $2—seriously, check it out!) so I could watch baking tutorials, take classes, and learn new skills for future business goals. The problem? I was right back to running between my desktop and the kitchen or squinting at my phone while trying to follow along.
All of this became a great excuse… clears throat …I mean reason to start looking for a budget-friendly tablet.
So I started researching and quickly discovered that many of the tablets in my original budget range were, well… questionable. Eventually, I had to face the fact that I wasn’t going to find what I wanted without increasing my budget just a little. Thankfully, once I did, I landed on a great option.

I ended up purchasing the onn. 11″ Core Tablet (2026 Model) with 128 GB of storage and Android 16. I picked it up for about $180 after tax, and it arrived the very next day. Then I found a cute case on Amazon for about $15, and I could not be happier with the setup. (Definitely not sponsored, just sharing what worked for me!)
But here’s the funny thing: it didn’t stay just a kitchen tablet for long.
I created a separate Google profile dedicated entirely to learning and growth. Now it has Craftsy, Dreaming Spanish, Saylor Academy, YouTube tutorials, this website, and my Modestly Done email all in one place.
What started as a way to follow recipes more easily has become a dedicated space for learning new skills, growing my business, and pursuing the things I’m passionate about.
So tell me—do YOU have a kitchen tablet?
